Well it is a few years later. The New Hampshire Primary is over and done with for 2016. Donald Trump won for the GOP and Bernie Sanders for the Dems. It is dismaying to say the least to think that Donald Trump could be our next President. He was heard shouting an obscenity about another candidate that was disgusting to say the least.
I thought that civility was dead in my last post. Now I think that it has been trampled into oblivion. These are not the good old days. They are not even the days of wine and roses. There is really no name for the days we are now living.
I cannot imagine what has brought us to this point in history where gun rights have brought mass shootings and children killing their siblings and/or friends. Teen agers who haven't even got full use of a sensible brain, are killing themselves in the spur of the moment. Never to live to regret that moment.
There is not much of a safety net for the poor, elderly and disenfranchised. Why? Because all those good Christian Americans want to keep their money their pocket, "Thank You." So they seem to be only holy on Sunday and only Christian to those who look like them, talk like them and are the same color and sexual persuasion as they are. That doesn't leave much room for asking, "What would Jesus do?" Which was all the rage many years ago. They don't care what Jesus would do. They only care what they want to do. So much for human decency.
I have philosophical problems with those who do not have any inclination to help those less fortunate. The saying, "There but for the Grace of God goes I.." is forgotten. The Golden Rule. What is that?
Some day all these selfish people will come face to face with their incredibly selfish decisions. It will bite them in the butte. But unfortunately it will bite a lot of other people in their buttes, too. And you know those are the people who won't deserve to pay for one group of insanely insensitive and hindsite is 20/20 people.
I hope that soon these people who seem to have smoked or drank something psychedelic, and are on the worst trip of their life, will breathe deeply and take their head out of where the fumes are fogging their minds.
